About

I'm a software engineer currently looking for my next role. Most recently I worked at Horace Mann Insurance, across legacy ASP.NET Web Forms and modern .NET services, integrating third-party APIs, untangling decade-old code, and shipping internal tools that saved other teams real time. Before that, I supported enterprise systems as a computer lab technician, which taught me to debug first and assume nothing.

Outside of work I write software for fun too, including a browser-based video compressor that runs entirely offline, no upload required. I studied Computer Science at Southeast Missouri State University, where a research capstone on sparse tensor storage formats pulled me deep into low-level data structure design.

Experience

  1. Software Engineer I

    Horace Mann Insurance Jan 2025 – Jul 2026
    • Built an internal outage scheduling tool that automated availability redirects during rollouts, eliminating off-hours manual intervention for multiple teams.
    • Leading integration of the Loqate API to standardize address input and enable autofilled, pre-validated location data across enterprise applications.
    • Integrated external Guidewire SOAP APIs using WCF clients (SvcUtil), implementing data mapping, error handling, and service reliability.
    • Designed and implemented full-stack features across legacy Web Forms and modern .NET applications supporting insurance quoting and lead workflows.
    • Wrote and maintained MSTest unit tests for business-critical address and prefill logic, reducing regression risk.

  2. Computer Lab Technician

    Springfield Clinic Sep 2023 – Jan 2025
    • Built internal tools and automation scripts to streamline system administration and operational workflows.
    • Automated tasks involving Active Directory, MECM, and database queries, reducing manual effort and operational risk.
    • Diagnosed and resolved complex system issues across Windows and Linux environments supporting business-critical operations.

Clip Shrinker

In development

A browser-based video compressor that shrinks clips down to a target file size, entirely client-side. No install, no upload; the video never leaves your machine. Trim a clip before compressing, queue up multiple files at once, and save the result straight to disk when it's done. Live, with a few quality-of-life fixes still on the way.

Sparse Tensor Storage Research

Academic

Undergraduate capstone research contributing to the HiCOO sparse tensor storage format alongside the ALTO format, implemented in Python. Helped develop the format, coordinated documentation, and produced explanatory animations of how the data structures work.
